Memories of my carpark, part 5, the Audi 80GL
This is not what I'm searching for.

Of every car I owned, I keep memories. My fifth car was an Audi 80 GL. What a hell of a car it was.
What a difference
The driving between my former home Zeist, and my own little partnership next to Breda, driving with my Skoda went well at first. But a friend of mine found a nice Audi for sale and he arranged a testdrive. Actually I had no money with me but after a few feet in that Audi I knew it already: It was mine! Luckily the banks were not in crisis yet. What a car, that Audi.
Blue and chrome
My first ride was blue, my third car was blue and this car, my fifth was also blue. Now that I'm thinking about it, my first bike and my first moped were also blue. That blue just sparkles in my eyes I guess. Like in the seventies, the Audi had plenty of chrome on it. What a nice combination it was, blue and chrome.
Accessoires
The car was delivered with white mudflaps. I found it magnificent. I covered the shelf with white fake fur and fitted white blinds in the inside of the rear window. That wasn't that weird because solarglass in a car wasn't invented yet. sSometime a blue sunstroke at the top of the windshield. But only if you were top of the bill. That didn't include me.
Stolen
When i enjoyed the Audi for 3 years, it was taken away without my permission by someone who hasn't got a driver license. He said he could drive 112 mph with it. The warned police still had time for things like that and after a few miles they underrun the car against a guardrail. Result: scratches and a lot of broken parts. For me this was the signal to say goodbye to this car. The only problem was I had no money for a new car. The only solution: cycling!
